What Are the Treatment Options for Brow Drooping?

Brow drooping can be treated with both surgical and non-surgical methods.
For those avoiding surgery, Botulinum Toxin (Botox) or thread brow lift techniques can achieve the desired appearance.

If the patient only wants a subtle lift in the brow corners, a brow lift can be performed using Botox. This involves injecting the product into targeted muscles with fine-tipped needles.

In the thread brow lift procedure, a small area in the scalp is numbed with local anesthesia and a small incision is made. Threads are passed from the incision to the outer and middle parts of the brow, then anchored to the scalp to lift the brow.

If non-surgical methods are insufficient, a temporal lift (temple lift) can be considered. This is usually performed under general anesthesia. A small incision is made within the hairline to access the brow. The brow is lifted with appropriately placed threads and anchored to the scalp. Any excess skin in the temple area may be removed during the procedure.

For patients with loose forehead skin, lowered brows, and narrowed brow-eye distance, an endoscopic brow lift may be appropriate. Through small incisions in the scalp, a camera and special instruments are used to release and lift the forehead and brows. The procedure is completed with proper dressing.

What is the Recovery Process After Brow Lift Treatment?

The recovery process varies depending on the method used.
For non-surgical methods, patients can return home and resume daily activities the same day.
In surgical procedures like temple lifts, patients are usually discharged the evening of surgery or the next day.
If stitches are used, they are typically removed within 7–10 days.
Swelling from the procedure usually subsides within 1–2 weeks. Patients are advised to keep their heads elevated and apply cold compresses for 1–2 days.
They should avoid massaging the forehead and brow area and can return to work within 2–3 days. Pain is usually minimal and can be managed with prescribed pain relievers.

What Are the Possible Risks and Complications After a Brow Lift?

Since no nerves are affected in thread lifts, there is no loss of sensation or major complications.
For surgical brow lifts, rare complications include bleeding, infection, or loosening of sutures.
Some patients may experience hair loss around the incision area within the scalp, although this is extremely rare.
