PRP Applications

What is PRP Treatment?

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is the abbreviation for a procedure called “Platelet-Rich Plasma.” In this process, a sample of the patient’s own blood is drawn into special tubes containing a separating gel. The blood is then centrifuged at a specific speed and duration, which separates it into its components. As a result, a gel with a platelet concentration of up to approximately 1.5 million per milliliter is obtained. This is what we refer to as PRP.

The primary function of platelets in the blood is to enable clotting. However, they also contain a high concentration of growth factors. These growth factors are released following centrifugation. The resulting platelet-derived, growth factor-rich plasma can be applied to areas such as the face, neck, décolleté, scalp, hands, and to regions with pigmentation or scars, depending on the patient’s needs.

What Are the Benefits of PRP?

PRP therapy can be used to treat conditions such as wrinkles, pigmentation, acne, wound scars, and hair loss. It can be applied on its own, but is often combined with mesotherapy or ozone therapy to enhance the desired effects.

Is PRP the Same as Stem Cell Therapy?

PRP is not a stem cell treatment. However, it contains a high concentration of growth factors, which work in synergy with the body’s existing stem cells to enhance tissue repair and regeneration.

How is PRP Applied and How Often?

PRP treatment is typically performed in 4–6 sessions at intervals of 1 to 4 weeks. During these sessions, it can also be combined with mesotherapy. One or two booster doses may be administered about 6 months later. The frequency and number of sessions may vary depending on the treatment area. The PRP obtained after centrifugation is injected into the appropriate skin layers using mesotherapy needles, or sometimes applied with the help of a dermaroller.

Who Should Not Receive PRP?

PRP treatment is not recommended for individuals with cancer, active autoimmune diseases, infections in the treatment area, or blood disorders.

Are There Any Side Effects of PRP Treatment and What Should Be Considered After the Procedure?

When the correct kit is used, PRP therapy has no significant side effects. The product is entirely derived from the patient’s own blood. After the procedure, it is recommended to avoid bathing on the same day and to use sunscreen regularly.
