Stem Cell Therapy

Stem Cell (SVF) Therapy

What Are Stem Cells?

Stem cells are precursor cells that have the ability to renew themselves and differentiate into various types of cells. They can be found in sources such as bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, placenta, and adipose (fat) tissue.

What Is Adipose-Derived Stem Cell and SVF?

The fluid obtained after processing properly harvested fat tissue through specific procedures is called SVF (Stromal Vascular Fraction). SVF contains mesenchymal stem cells.

Fat tissue is typically harvested from areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or waist. The collected fat undergoes processes such as centrifugation, emulsification, filtration, and fractionation. After these steps, the stromal vascular fraction is obtained.

How Is Adipose-Derived Stem Cell (SVF) Therapy Performed?

The area from which fat will be harvested is locally anesthetized. After an appropriate waiting period, a small incision is made, and a tumescent solution is administered using a cannula. After approximately 20–30 minutes, an adequate amount of fat tissue is collected using specialized cannulas.

The harvested fat is then processed to obtain SVF.

How Does SVF Therapy Affect Skin Rejuvenation?

With aging, both the epidermis and dermis undergo changes. The skin’s hydration capacity and vascularity decrease. As fibroblast activity declines, the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, and elastin also decreases.

SVF therapy helps improve:

  • Skin elasticity
  • Dermal thickness
  • Vascular structure

Can SVF Therapy Be Combined with Other Treatments?

SVF therapy is often combined with treatments such as PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and mesotherapy.

Growth factors, signaling pathways, and repair cells play a crucial role in wound healing. PRP and mesotherapy products help provide growth factors, while SVF therapy provides regenerative cells derived from your own fat tissue. Combining these treatments can enhance overall effectiveness.

How Often Should SVF Therapy Be Performed?

When combined with PRP and mesotherapy, SVF therapy can often achieve the desired effect in a single session.

What Areas Is SVF Therapy Used For?

In plastic surgery, SVF therapy is commonly used for:

  • Increasing the longevity of fat grafts
  • Treating hair loss
  • Skin rejuvenation and regeneration
  • Reducing skin blemishes and scar tissue

Are There Any Side Effects of SVF Therapy? What Affects the Results?

SVF therapy is derived entirely from the patient’s own fat tissue. After the procedure, mild bruising or redness may occur in both the donor and treated areas, but these effects are temporary.

Since the treatment uses the patient’s own tissue, there is no risk of allergic reaction.

However, factors such as:

  • Medications used
  • Smoking and alcohol consumption
  • Metabolic conditions
  • Genetic factors
  • Nutrition

may influence the quality of SVF and the overall results.
